Layout and Mask Data Format Translators

From physical design to mask tape-out, a design database goes through various transformations. The back-end design flow for leading edge designs is quite complicated and involves a multitude of tools. These tools might need different input formats or generate the output in different formats. Therefore, a seamless design flow typically requires efficient physical design data translation from one format to another.

SoftJin offers a suite of bi-directional layout and mask data format translators for major industry standards. Some of the translators are direct, one-to-one translators while the other translators go through SoftJin's Nirmaan database as an intermediate format.

The direct, one-to-one translators include:

• GDSII to OASIS (available free as part of Anuvad tool suite)
• OASIS to GDSII
• OpenAcess to OASIS
• OASIS to OpenAccess

The direct translators offer the advantage of faster conversion as compared to going through an intermediate file format. Also, the translators choose the most efficient data representation for each of the formats during translation process, thus resulting in smaller design file size.
