Design IPs for Set Top Box
Set-top box is a system which connects a display unit like television with an external source of signal. A typical set-top box has the following major sub modules and several of SoftJin IPs can be used to design these sub-modules. These IPs are offered as a bundle as well as individually. Tuner and ADC: The tuner converts the RF frequency signal into intermediate frequency signal and then the ADC converts the analog information to digital information
Demodulator and FEC: The Digital demodulator module separates information from the carrier and the Forward error correction (FEC) module removes the error induced in the information due to channel noise. SoftJin’s PSK demodulator can be used for demodulation in DVB-S2 compliant applications. SoftJin can also develop other customized demodulators such as OFDM, QAM to support other standards. SoftJin offers various error correction modules such as LDPC decoder, BCH decoder, Read-Solomon decoder, Viterbi decoder which can be used in FEC modules depending on the standards and applications.
Descrambler and De-multiplexer: This module descrambles the incoming packets and selects the packets corresponding to the channel chosen by user. SoftJin offers descrambler and de-multiplexer for DVB-S2 standard and can develop similar modules for other standards.

Video Decoder: The video decoder decompresses the compressed video information. Based on SoftJin’s experience in projects involving MPEG2 and MPGE4 processing, SoftJin can develop customized video decoders.
TV Encoder: The TV encoder encodes the de-compressed video information and sends signal to the display device. SoftJin offers PAL-NTSC encoder which can generates signal in YUV, RGB, S-Video and CVBS to send signal to analog input interface of nearly all kind of SDTVs. SoftJin also offers HD encoder which generates signal in YPbPr format to send signal to analog input interface of HDTV. In addition, SoftJin’s HDMI transmitter can be used to send signal to digital interface of HDTV.
SD Card Controller: Many set top box comes with recording option. SoftJin’s SD card controller IP can be used to integrate SD cards as a storage device in the set-top box.
